Mark Maravilla
Mark is the oldest member of our team and the brother of team member, Lexter. The only married member and father of one child, he lives with his mother, father, brother, sister, wife and son. They live in a basement dwelling in Lucban, with two rooms.
It is a bit funny to be the oldest player. I am just happy to be part of this team. As far as contributing to this team, I will contribute my utmost best. Aside from specific assignments, I will do extra to make a difference. As the oldest I feel our family’s poverty is because our father’s job does not earn enough to meet the family’s needs. As a farmer, he only earns money during the planting season. My dad is a farmer, but he has no farm.
If we had a farm it would really help us. Currently my father only gets a portion of the profits of the farm. For this season, he was only paid one and one-half sacks of rice. Sadness is the word that describes the feeling of our family. We all understand the difficulty we face, and we all want to contribute and make a difference.
I have been trained and gone to school as a welder. I have never had a chance to practice my profession, but given a chance I feel I could still do the job.
I currently work as a part-time laborer on a construction site in Quezon City, which is about a four-to six-hour. I earn Php250 a day. Each week I send Php1000 home and keep Php500 for myself to live here in Manila for my food allowance. When I graduated from college, Southern Luzon State University, I weighed 55-60 kilos. I now weigh less than 50 kilos because of the hard work and lack of food.
