Before our family had everything. We could afford to go to school and college. My father worked in Saudi [Arabia]. But my father got sick eight years ago and everything changed. He had to come home. My father now works in a small store at home. He cannot find a job because of his high blood pressure. He gets dizzy easily and occasionally passes out.
I graduated from high school with average grades. I was popular in high school because I played football, and football is the number one sport in Bacolod. I got into college for two years, in nautical marine [studies]. I stopped when our family’s savings were depleted.
One of my brothers, the one we hoped could help us, died in the SuperFerry 14 that was burned down by the Abu Saaf in Manila Bay. Our family was hoping he would help us because he was a seaman; he had promised to help me with school. Although my sister-in-law died in the fire, my brother was still alive when the boat was burning. He tried to save some of the other passengers, but during the rescue attempts he got tired and drowned. This was confirmed by survivors from Negros who saw my brother helping with the rescue.
If given the opportunity I want to be a champion. I would like to go back to school or at least help my younger brother to go back to college. These are my dreams.

The greatest feeling in the world is when your on that soccer field, and you know that your team is going to succeed because you look around and see your 7 best friends playing beside you.
